Practices for Dismentling the City, 2025
“What if I eliminated this building to discover what’s behind it? What if I removed that block? And another layer?” – we can imagine Letícia Lampert asking herself this, with a shovel or utility knife in hand, as she digs through her own photographs. With the impetus of someone dismantling a toy to unravel its mechanism, she uses what remains as her mortar. In a balance between fine precision and chance, she subtracts from the city in order to add. To join differently. Thus, we traverse pages and places as concrete as they are nonexistent, moments dissected from the raw material into which she transforms her images. A poetry of form, loose collage, a silent book: they are gray blocks, pastel tones, textures, an architecture that squeezes and misplaces the much-desired blue horizon. If the view blocks it, Letícia uncovers it; she opens paths and invites us to explore them, to walk as one who still dreams and therefore refounds other cities.
